Gmail on your mobile phone

Gmail works on your mobile phone! According to Palmdoc, gmail works on your mobile Treo 650.

As for wi-fi, I still can't get it to work on my Tungsten C. I tried both the regular www.gmail.com and m.gmail.com without any success. Maybe they need a special pda.gmail.com for wi-fi users? I'm sure they're working on it already!

Here's a screenshot from the Treo 650 (from Palmdoc):

Bug fixed in MedFormula 4.70

Hello,

Due to a Bug Found in MedFormula affecting the Apache II Score, we are sending this email early. Versions up to 4.67 were affected by a 1-pt score error in the Apache II Score. This only occurred with pH values 7.25-7.32 and 7.5-7.59 - the apache II score returned with these pH values selected may be off by 1-pt. This bug has been corrected in Version 4.70 which was posted yesterday to our site and will be posted soon to our affilates. Please be sure you are running version 4.70 at the minimum. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

(For users with memory problems, version 3.0r3 has been released with the above update - 3.0r3 is a smaller, compact version of medformula for older palms. It is availabe from the version history page)

Please download the updated version from our site: www.internal-med.org -- If you have lost your unlock code, you may access the unlock page at our website (http://www.internal-med.org) and use the email address on which you are receiving this email to obtain a new unlock code.

In yesterday's newsletter, we wrote that EasyPulse saves the heart rate - actually easypulse now saves the "number of beats to count" (i.e. 20,30,40,60) so that you don't have to select it for next time. (of course you can change it with the "change" button).

If you have any questions, comments or bug reports, please email webmaster@internal-med.org. Again, remember to visit http://www.internal-med.org for free software updates.

Thanks for your support,

All registered users can upgrade to the latest version for free. Download the latest versions from: PalmBlvd.com, Palmgear.com, Handango.com, Download.com, or preferably from our website (http://www.internal-med.org) Use the same registration code used to register original version. Bugfixes:
An bug was discovered in MedFormula versions 2.90-4.42 in the Water Deficit module. The bug caused the replacement rate to reflect the recommend # of days instead of the selected # of days. This bug was corrected in version 4.44.

A bug was discovered in CME Watch versions 0.4-1.1 where on rare circumstances a CME Event that was restored from archive could be lost. The bug has been corrected in version 1.7 and higher.

FundRaisers in 2005
Over $125 dollars was raised for relief efforts for the Hurricaine Katrina/Rita Disaster, South Asian Earthquake and Tsumani Disasters. Thanks to everyone's support of our programs which made it possible to donate funds to UniCEF and the American Red Cross.

Version 4.44 is the minmum recommended version for MedFormula due to bugfixes. Version 3.0r2 is available as a "Lite" version of Medformula for older palms with memory issues. Contact us for more information.

CME Watch underwent some major revisions. Highlights include : Alphabetical / Date Listing chooser, A New Certifications Database, Ability to Categorize/Customize Events, Adds Backup Capabilities, Autosaves all edits for faster entry, Now STYLETAP Compatible, Tungsten X + Lifedrive. Also

Version 2.70-2.71 were affected by a bug created in version 2.70 where Autosave wasn't currently working. If you are running 2.70 or 2.71, please upgrade to 2.72.

Reassurance that Palm is here to stay

Palm CEO Ed Colligan has released an open letter to the Palm Development community. In his letter, he makes clear that Palm will continue to support the Palm OS and that new Palm OS handhelds and Treo smartphones are on Palms product roadmap. Colligan is addressing concerns that Palm's support of Palm OS is short-lived given the announcement of the Windows Mobile Treo.

The link above is to Palminfocenter.com's story on this subject. With all the hype over the new Windows Treo, it is good to know that Palm is sticking around for a little longer...

Server Upgrades Complete

During October 3-9, intermittent site outages occurred when a massive OS upgrade was performed during off hours. Mandrake 2005 LE was installed on the server from a clean install base, meaning reconfiguration and reinstallation of the entire site was done.

Things that took longer than expected included:
1. Unexpected version differences in mod-auth-mysql which led to this blog being down. Strange apache errors results in the error log which were traced back to this module being the incorrect version and a new version solved the problems.

2. Upgrading to postfix and getting postfix to configure with smtp-auth (previously running sendmail).

Anyway, everything is stable now and backed up. Uptime currently about 10 days!

Website Maintenance

This server underwent maintenance and was offline from 23.00 to 23.25 GMT-8. Hard Disk Imaging was done during this time and the physical hard disk was swapped as a failsafe procedure.

We use Acronis Drive Image to create images of the Linux Drives by removing the drives and mounting it on a Windows machine and then back to Linux.

LILO must be reconfigured when the image is mounted back onto another disk. Use the Linux Install Disk 1 Rescue feature to re-install LILO.

Prior uptime was approximately 53 days. Our backup procedures include nightly backups in addition to these procedures above.
