Q: I purchased your program from Handango or PalmGear but I haven't received my code? A: All purchases from these sites are manually verified for accuracy. Thus, allow up to 2 business days to receive the code. Purchases from this website are computer processed within minutes.
Q: How do I change the Palm Username? A: To change the Hotsync User Name, go your computer and open Start >> Programs >> Palm (or Sony Handheld) >> Palm Desktop. Select "Users" from the Tools Menu and "Rename" the Hotsync UserName. Choose a simple name for ease. Be sure not to include any extra spaces at the end. Avoid punctuation, if possible, for ease. Then perform a hotsync operation. Now obtain a new unlock code and register it again.
Q: My Unlock Code doesn't seem to work? A: We are sorry that you are experiencing trouble. In over a years experience, we have found that there is usually an error in the "Hotsync ID" provided to us when compared with what is on your palm pilot. The unlock codes are computer generated and virtually eliminate any possibility of error in code generation. Check to make sure that you have included punctuations, capitalizations and whitespace (i.e. space bars) characters exactly. In other words, "John Doe, MD" is not "john doe md" needs to be entered with the Capital, spacing PRECISELY. What is on the Palm Desktop/PalmPilot must match EXACTLY what you enter during the unlock process.
Another common scenario is "John Doe, MD " <<< Notice that little extra space at the end? This is not easily detectable. The best thing to do when the registration code doesn't work is to reset the Hotsync Username, to one preferably with one word and no punctuation. See Q2 above for instructions on how to change the Palm Desktop Username.
New!! We have developed a special diagnostic tool for those having difficulty. Simply install the diagnostic tool and email us the "hash code" -- we can use this precise hash to get you the correct code. Email webmaster at internal-med.org to have the diagnostic program emailed to you.
Q: Where do I enter the unlock code -- where IS the register menu?? A: The registration code is entered into the actual program on the Palm Pilot. Use the Palm "menu" key (lower left) or click on the top title bar on newer Palm Pilots. From the main screen on any of our programs, use the palm menu key or click on the title bar and a menu will appear. Select Register. If you don't know what the palm menu key is, click here for a picture
Enter the code on the Register screen (example given below). Note: The hotsync Username displayed on the Register screen MUST match what you have submitted during registration on our website. If it does not obtain a new registration code via the website. Click HERE to get a new registration code.
Q: How do I install the software? First, download the appropriate program to your desktop. You need an "unzipping" program like Winzip or Winrar first. You should also install Palm Desktop if not done so (it should come with your Palm Pilot). Install the application by double clicking the .prc file inside the zip file downloaded. The Palm Quick Install Manager will become activated so that the file is queued to download on next hotsync. Hotsync your palm pilot and the program will download to your Palm. That's it!
Q: Why charge for software? Why not make it free? A: We have made CME Watch Freeware recently! However, software development takes a huge amount time and significant investment. The programs here are all written in NSBasic which costs about $150. Plus there are server operation costs, domain and internet fees. Your support along with ads on this site help us keep this site running.
Q: Are transactions safe and secure? A: We use PayPal for transactions exclusively. They use secure server (SSL) transactions. Your transactions are secure. We don't store any personal information apart from your email and hotsync ID.
Q: Why is there an unlock code? Why are short hotsync ID's prohibited? A: An unlock code mechanism is necessary for two reasons. One is to prevent unauthorized theft of software. These programs have required countless hours to develop each. The other is to keep registrations on file in order to update users on new developments and bugs in the software. Short hotsync ID's are prohibited for security reasons and therefore most of our programs require a 3 character minimum on Hotsync ID.
Q: I am getting an "Error code 1050 : Security Violation Error" when I access your site to obtain the unlock code. A: A Security Error was detected. You should contact webmaster at inernal-med.org for more information.
Q: I am getting an "Error code 1060 : Payment not Verified" when I access your site to obtain the unlock code. A: Several Programs require purchase of an unlock code. Please see our main page for more information. If you have made payment, be sure you used the same email address given to PayPal.
Q: Will there be a Pocket PC Edition / Windows Mobile? A: This will depend on demand. Our investment is in Palm in terms of programming tools. Take a look at StyleTap (http://www.styletap.com) - they offer the ability to run Palm software on a Pocket PC.
NEWS: EasyPulse-CE has already been ported to Windows Mobile!! See the menu above.
Q: I got a MemoryManager.c error on my Tungsten with Patient Follower? A: This is an issue discovered on our Test Palm Pilot. There appears to be a problem with Zlauncher causing crashes on Tungsten series. We are advising caution using Zlauncher until the issue is resolved. Megalauncher does not appear to have any problems.
Q: I got a MemoryManager.c error or "Out of Memory" on my Tungsten with MedFormula? A: One user reported this with the Sony S series clie. Try upgrading to version 4.4 or newer as optimized code will help prevent these memory errors. If all else fails, try legacy version 3.0r2 which is a compact version that contains all fixes thru 10/05.
Q: Help, how do I prevent/recover from a data loss on Patient Follower A: In the 2006 versions of Patient Follower, there is a menu option called "Backup" - we recommend you use this at least weekly or twice weekly. It's also good to hotsync several times a week.
In case a disaster occurs or database corruption occurs, you can "restore" from this backup. You can further safeguard this file by performing a hotsync and then saving the file ptBackup.pdb from your Palm directory and saving it in a secure location. (The file is usually found in C >> Program Files >> Palm >> "Your Hotsync ID Name" >> Backup or Archive). In fact you can store the "ptBackup" copies on a CD or Drive and restore them later in the future at any time! The Export option works the same way as the Backup option above. The file created is called ptExport.pdb -- you could send the export file to a colleague on your same team if you are following the same patients!
If you lost the information from a loss of battery power and if you have performed a hotsync recently simply perform a hotsync and the data should be restored.
Q: Patient Follower Beaming gives a "Beam Interrupted Error" A: Make sure batteries are fully charged and Palm Pilots are aligned properly. On some models, a reported increased distance of up to one foot has been known to help. There are some problems inherent to Palm Pilots themselves (such as Visor Deluxe and Palm beaming problems) - these are not specific issues to Patient Follower.
Q: Patient Follower Memo Export creates a memo but the spacing is uneven? A: This is a known limitation of the Memo Pad export function. We recommend editing the memo thru memo pad and adding a "tab" keystroke to line up the columns manually.
Q: The programs are running very slow. A: These programs were written in NSBasic. NSBasic programs tend to run slower on older palm pilots. If speed is a significant issue, consider upgrading. We recommend a minimum of 66 Mhz processors for optimum performance.
Q: Where I can I find instructions for using Patient Follower? A: Click here for instructions on using Patient Follower 2.x
